ConnectiCare, one of Connecticut’s leading health plans, is happy to announce an expanded partnership with the Connecticut State Medical Society-IPA, Inc. (CSMS-IPA) to deliver better quality and greater value health care to the people of Connecticut.  

Courtesy of ConnectiCare, approximately 2,500 primary care physicians of the CSMS-IPA will have access to the tools and clinical services of CareScreen® software, developed by Quality Health Ideas (QHI).  The software will help doctors identify needed health screenings, coordinate care and improve patient health.

Doctors see promise in ACO concept

Medicare has been rolling out new ways of reimbursing doctors who treat seniors, but success has been mixed.

Of the 300 accountable care organizations nationwide in 2013, only 40 saved enough money to split between doctors and Medicare, said Ben Kraus, president and COO of Suffield, Conn.-based Quality Health Ideas Inc. Allegheny Health Network doctors join national group seeking 'to transform health care across all spectrums'

Allegheny Health Network doctors have joined 4,500 physicians in Pennsylvania and nine other states in trying out a new way of getting paid by Medicare, promising more money in their pockets and improved care for patients.

The program will pay doctors the same Medicare fee-for-service rates they have received in the past, but allow treatment changes that would save the government money while improving patient care. Any resulting savings will be split between Medicare and the doctors’ accountable care organization, which is called Physicians Accountable Care Services...
